Content Inventory & Audit overview
One living inventory of every page, post, asset, social post, and email — audited for ROT, SEO health, and on-brand fit, with performance tracked over time.
What this does
A content inventory is the foundation of content strategy: a complete list of everything you've published, with the data you need to decide what to keep, improve, consolidate, redirect, or remove. Berchtold builds and maintains yours automatically — and goes further than a spreadsheet or a standalone SEO crawler by fusing four things onto every row:
- What it is — page, post, custom type, media, social post, or email, pulled from your WordPress, analytics, social, and email connections.
- SEO health — a full sitemap-first crawl captures status codes, titles, meta descriptions, H1s, canonicals, word count, and readability (the "Screaming Frog" layer).
- Performance — Google Analytics sessions and Search Console clicks, impressions, and position, joined to each URL.
- On-brand fit — every page scored against your brand config (voice, compliance rules, lexicon, and pillars), so "what's off-brand" sits right next to "what's thin" and "what gets no traffic."
The audit it produces
- ROT analysis — what's Redundant, Outdated, or Trivial, with a "reducible %" so you can do less, but better.
- SEO issues — missing/duplicate titles and metas, thin content, broken pages, redirects, noindex, orphans, and no-traffic pages.
- Brand-fit — a 0–100 score and an on-brand / needs-work / off-brand verdict per page, with the specific flags.
- Disposition — keep, update, consolidate, migrate, redirect, cull, or create, assignable to an owner with an audit status.
Performance over time
Every build saves a snapshot. Berchtold tracks each URL's metrics across snapshots and flags what was added, changed, or removed since last time — so you can see trajectories, and, when you act on a recommendation or run a play, a lift report shows whether traffic, position, and brand-fit actually moved.
How it stays current
A weekly job re-crawls every enabled brand and refreshes the inventory without overwriting your manual audit decisions. Findings flow into your Workbox as recommendations you can approve and run — and destructive actions (cull/redirect) always require approval.
Export
Export the inventory as a native Google Sheet in your connected Drive (or as CSV / an XML sitemap) any time.
